A shiviti (or shivisi) is a visual meditation aid with deep roots in Jewish contemplative practice, a focal point for the eye & mind, functioning much as a mandala does in other traditions. The name comes from the first word of Psalm 16:8, Shiviti Hashem l'negdi tamid — "I have set the Lord before me constantly" — which crowns the design alongside the sacred Name at its center. Below, Psalm 67 is set in the form of the Temple menorah.
Known as the Menorah Psalm, this configuration of Psalm 67 is also a shmirah — a guardian text, hung in the home or carried on the person for protection, blessing, and good fortune. The psalm itself asks for God's face to shine upon us & for the earth to yield its increase, & it functions to guard a household, drawing down blessing over a home and the people in it. Kabbalistic tradition holds the design in particular esteem, and it appears in amulets, prayer books, & synagogue walls.
This shiviti amulet is both a place to rest your attention, a reminder of the Divine presence, & a guardian for the space it occupies. It suits a study, a meditation room, a spot near where you daven, an entryway, a nursery, or anywhere in the home you want that reminder & protection to live.
Each plaque is engraved on reclaimed hardwood and finished with a light protective coat that deepens the grain and brings out the warmth of the wood beneath the design.

These small differences are the character of a handmade amulet infused with the kavanah of artisan intentionality, and no two customers receive quite the same object.
